No Hablo Espanol!

But it's OK because they no hablo English!

Post-exam loving Mother/Daughter trip to Mexico was delightful. Complete with a bajillion pina coladas, dumb drunk tourists, not tanning, and comatose days on the beach. Needless to say, I accomplished a lot on the vacation. For instance, I read 6 books and learned all about the dynamics of money in relationships  and which bathing suit is right for my body type! I think the strapless one I wore on day 4 wasn't the right one for me, since the clasp snapped while I was on the beach. Just let me say it's a good thing I was lying down. And that my mom had a decent sun dress on hand. Or else it would have been an awkward walk back to my room in my sheer beach cover. Marie Claire didn't warn me about that!

Essentially my main past-time while in Mexy is lawling at the strange translation errors they have - often on menus. Some of my favourite include:

-Peabut cream (peanut butter)

-Grape Wrape (a spa treatment I can only assume is a wrap of some sort. Unfortunate addition of an e.)

-"Visit the Families at the Dump" (This was on the activities schedule. We laughed at this one for a long time, trying to figure out what it actually was. Turns out it sounds like a trip to look at impoverished families living at a garbage dump because it is one... Excuse me? Actually not funny...)

I took a picture of this one for effect:

A very poorly placed idiom. Either that or there is a serious problem at bay here.

And finally, I will commend them for a good play on words - a hilarious pun that I ordered multiple times a day at the poolside: the "Freeze Willy". Get it? Free Willy, Freeze Willy? It was a mango milkshake though... didn't really have anything to do with whales as far as I'm aware. Still, I'll give it to them.

Row Major / Column Major

My notes and the internet are really letting me down today... There is a large discrepancy going on about column vs row major array indexing, apparently.

Things that everyone can agree on:

We have this array:

1 2 3
4 5 6

This is stored as 1 2 3 4 5 6 in row major, and 1 4 2 5 3 6 in column major. Makes sense.

I would call this a 2x3 matrix. BUT do column major/row major consider it to be different?

A(1,2) = 2 seems right to me.
A(1,2) = 4 is this ever true?!

I don't think so...

Maybe we only have to switch things up when we're converting between 2 different programming languages (ie. C and fortran).

Someone for You

My baby in video format.

How would you do that? How would you get costumes?

Did you know that in like 1940... How much do you think gold cost? $35 an ounce. Look up how much gold is like now.

Hahahha

Ha
Hahahahhaha

Oh, Can one of your blogs (cause you now have 2 right?), can one of them be tied to the page?

Can you do that?

Are you going to use both of them?

If we talk fast she can't write.

I feel like the average blog could be tied to the page, then people could go and just be amazed by it.

I could have won a car.

Is your background still books?

Come together now earth wind and fire...
